Classrooms

Our high-quality learning environments include specifically organized spaces for children to explore a variety of concepts, within various learning centers. As you enter each classroom, you will be greeted by the teacher, find individual cubbies for children’s belongings, tables for projects, play and meal time activities. Each classroom also has an area for group meeting time and story-time where children can explore and discuss current classroom topics and gather for music time or large motor activities such as stretching or yoga. Children are given the opportunity to choose between learning centers including; block & construction, Library & Media, Math & Manipulatives, Science & Nature, and Dramatic Play & Housekeeping. Writing and literacy is also an important aspect that is incorporated into the entire learning environment through formal and informal methods. Children will find their environment labeled with words, represented in the primary language of every child in the classroom, as well as pencils, clipboards and other writing utensils in every learning center, so that children have the opportunity to write, draw or scribble whenever they are inspired to express themselves.

Parental Involvement

Pride & Joy has an open-door policy that allows parents to access their children at any time during the day, and offers support services to families such as adapting to attending a UPK Program, and transitioning into an elementary school program. Throughout the year, parents and families are invited to participate in the program in a variety of ways such as pre-planned family events and holiday celebrations, or to join us in the classroom for regular instruction as a parent helper, reader, or field trip volunteer. Parents are also invited to assist in operating book fairs, picture day, and open-houses. Literacy Kits, math kits, and a take home “class pet” are available for parents and children to take home, to foster a home-school connection, for families that are not able to take advantage the opportunities that take place during program hours. Parents may also request time to meet, if they would like to connect with their child’s teacher outside of instruction time.

Our Mission

Dedication

Pride & Joy Child Care was created with great focus, and dedication, to children and their families. We understand how important it is for parents to be able to go to work knowing that their children are safe, loved and getting the most out of their day. At Pride & Joy, we always go above and beyond, to create the best programming available for children and families.

Support

This philosophy continues to define our program today as it has for over 20 years! Today, most families are faced with the need to have two incomes to support their families. In order for parents to be able to do this they need to know that their children are being cared for in a warm, loving environment, where they can grow and thrive.

Friendship

The focus of the program is to provide families with quality early care & education for their child,in an environment that is as comfortable and caring as it would be in their own home. Pride & Joy provides a friendly atmosphere where all family members feel like they are a part of the center.

Fun

From our infant care, to our early childhood education program, Pride & Joy is bursting with fun filled, hands on activities that promote exploration and play! We incorporate fitness and body movement through yoga, dance, karate, or soccer, and change our activities as the childrens interests change!

This philosophy carries on through out our school-age program, which is both fun and supportive. In addition to a choice of daily activities, parents can rest assured that their school-age children will have a healthy snack, and help with their homework each day, which helps families to re-claim a little of their family time in in the evenings!

Over 20 Years of Providing Quality Child Care

Est. 1998

Gina Lang began working as an early childhood educator before she graduated from high-school, in the spring of 1990. In the Fall of 1998, just before her daughters first birthday, Gina founded Pride & Joy Child Care, which was initially a family-home child care center, licensed for seven children. The goal was to create a professional early childhood experience for children and families, in a home like environment.

This philosophy lead Pride & Joy's mission in designing a program, which combines family comfort, along with the many benefits of an early-childhood education program. The combination of family style, professional programming became instantly popular with families. One year later, in an effort to meet the growing demand for our quality services, Pride & Joy grew, and became a group family daycare, licensed to care for 12 children

In 2003, and with continued support from family and friends, Pride & Joy grew into a larger facility, where we were able to expand our professional, family-friendly program, to a capacity of 53 children.

As the popularity of the program continued to grow, Pride & Joy expanded by opening a second location on East Henrietta Road in January 2005. This new location catered to the needs of families with older children, providing before & after school care, summer camp and Universal Pre-K. The addition of, ”Pride & Joy Too” expanded the program to a total of 75 children. At that time Pride & Joy began making plans to combine their popular programs into one facility, custom built, to meet all of their needs under one, carefully thought out roof.

In September 2008 Pride & Joy made that dream a reality, and moved to our new home, at 55 Finn Road in West Henrietta Road, where it is located today. This allowed us to expand our program, to care for 106 children, plus Universal Pre-K. The new facility boasts custom designed classrooms outfitted with child size fixtures, a security entry system and family reception area complete with an a.m. coffee spot.

In 2005 Gina was awarded a start-up grant from the Office of Child & Family Services, to open a new center in Avon. This center was named Joyful Beginnings, and followed the same programming & principals as Pride & Joy, and was licensed for 116 children, ages 6 weeks to 12 years of age, Joyful Beginnings opened in the fall of 2006, and has been known as the premier choice for childcare in Avon, NY and through out Livingston County.

As we celebrated our 20th Anniversary in business, in the year 2018, we were proud to announce that Joyful Beginnings moved to a brand new, custom built location, and adopted the name Pride & Joy Child Care of Avon! The new location is located in Crossroads Commerce Park in Avon, located on 2.2 acres of land, and conveniently located just off 390!

In September 2018 we were excited to announce the third edition to our family, Pride & Joy Child Care of Geneseo, located at 4624 Millennium Drive in Geneseo, NY! Pride & Joy of Geneseo is licensed to care for children from 6 weeks of age through 12 years of age, providing high quality preschool, pre-k, before and after school programs, as well as summer camp and wrap care for Universal Pre-K, which is brand new to Geneseo students the Fall of 2019!

The basis for each of our early care and education programs is relationships, and emotional connections. These are the first and most important factor in how a child will develop emotionally and cognitively. We understand that early experiences are the key to unlocking the brains potential. Children who feel secure have the confidence they need to try new things and explore their environment; therefore, we limit the overall size of our program to around 100 children, which allows everyone who is a part of the center to develop relationships with each other, and creates a family style environment.

Welcome to the Pride & Joy Family!
